For the past 30 years the behind the scenes babble has been conversing about the coming of "World Peace", and so I have been giving this thought some considerable consideration these past few months. Over time it has occurred to me that we live in a pretty volatile world. All manner of vile perpetrations occur every hour, we commit horror and atrocity upon each other continuously, and yet we still speak in whispers about the coming of peace.
If there is nothing else, there is hope. And within hope, the means to change.
But the question is this... having come so far, to commit such deeds as we have done... how do we now achieve this peace? What needs to change in our societies to stop the serial killers, the rapists, and the thieves? The human race is comprised of cheating husbands and wives, children who commit murder, drug addicts, and politicians who are responsible for selling the instruments that kill millions for money. And that is only a scratch in the surface of the shame that plagues this world.
So I have thought hard about what we are, and how this change might come about, in fact the only way that it can ever happen is inside each and every human heart. It is up to each one of us to own up to being a part of the problem, if we don't take responsibility, then we have no leverage to make change. It is when we shrink away and deny the evidence that we lose our power to create.
In reality, to answer this question would be to address a million issues individually, I can not attempt such a feat... but what I can suggest is this: it is not often the case that you fight fire with fire... evil perpetuated upon the evil doer does not discreate the original act, it only perpetuates the consciousness. We must learn the meaning of love... and hold it in our hearts. We must practice compassion and grow wise in the face of fear.
I wish each of you success in your lives, success is not always manifested through wealth, or possessions... success is the result of living well.
I hope that I have struck a chord within you... you may not like what I have said today, but I hope it will make you think about how you can create peace in your life, beginning with the ones that you love.
